The Prince William or engagement in June

Prince William is finally set to announce his long-awaited engagement to girlfriend Kate Middleton, according to speculation sweeping the UK.

A high placed royal source has reportedly revealed two days in June – the 3rd and 4th – have been mysteriously blocked out on palace diaries.

“They suggest this is a likely date for the engagement announcement at last,” Princess Diana biographer Tina Brown reports on website the Daily Beast.

The claim follows a weekend report that the Queen has placed a bulk order for champagne, fuelling speculation William has popped the question.

An unexplained order had been made for 300 bottles of vintage Dom Perignon worth almost $50,000, the News of the World reported.

“This usually only happens ahead of special occasions like weddings and family announcements. It suggests something big is coming up,” a source told the paper.

Plans were in place for the pair to wed before February 2012 celebrations to mark the Queen’s diamond jubilee, or 60 years of rule, the paper added.

If the latest hints are on the money, the engagement announcement would be timed to come after Britain’s May 6 election and before William’s planned first joint overseas tour with brother Harry.

William is president of England’s Football Association and the two princes are set to travel to Africa in June for a trip that will take in a soccer World Cup match.

The rumours would see trainee helicopter rescue pilot William, 27, and Kate, 28, marry in the winter, possibly as early as November.

That would see the couple conveniently tie the knot before Prince Philip’s 90th birthday in June 2011.

London also hosts the 2012 Olympics, potentially leaving William with a long wait for a suitable gap for his wedding if he does not act soon.

The pair met when both were studying at St Andrews University and have been dating for over eight years, leading Middleton to be dubbed “Waity Katie”.

Past speculation of impending marriage has been off the mark, with UK department store chain Woolworths launching commemorative plates, mugs and tea towels as far back as 2006. The chain went bust without any confirmation of the royal wedding.

Do you believe that has an alien?

Aliens exist and they live in our midst disguised as humans–at least, that’s what 20 percent of people polled in a global survey believe.
The Reuters Ipsos poll of 23,000 adults in 22 countries showed that more than 40 percent of people from India and China believe that aliens walk among us disguised as humans, while those least likely to believe in this are from Belgium, Sweden and the Netherlands (8 percent each).
However, the majority of people polled, or 80 percent, don’t believe aliens in our midst.

It would appear that that there’s a modest correlation between the most populated countries and those more likely to indicate there may be aliens disguised amongst them compared with those countries with the smaller populations, said John Wright, Senior Vice President of market research firm Ipsos.
Maybe it’s a simple case that in a less populated country you are more likely to know your next door neighbor better, he said.
More men than women–22 percent vs 17 percent–believe that alien beings are on earth.
Most of those believers are under the age of 35, and across all income classes, the survey showed. Of those who do not believe, most are women.

Britons are increasingly entertaining guests at home

Britons are increasingly entertaining guests at home with dinner, film and karaoke nights, inspired by television shows on cookery and home entertainment, according to a survey.

More than half (53 percent) of the respondents to a poll of 1,000 Britons across the country said they now prefer to spend quality time with family and friends by inviting them over to their homes rather than meeting in bars and restaurants, the survey by mobile phone operator T-Mobile showed.

Popular television shows such as “Come Dine With Me,” where amateur chefs attempt to wow each other with their culinary skills, “Master Chef” where ordinary people compete to cook to Michelin standards and a number of celebrity cookery shows have inspired Britons to entertain at home.

The poll showed that nearly a third of respondents had splashed out cash for home entertainment improvements such as sofas, dining tables, games consoles and bigger televisions to impress the guests.

Over the last couple of years, my clients have increasingly asked for home parties rather than ones at independent venues, party planning expert Liz Brewer said in a statement accompanying the poll’s results.

This is not only due to the recession but because many have become increasingly house-proud and keen to show off their cooking skills, in addition to their latest home entertainment purchases.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver was the top choice for dream host of respondents, while Prime Minister Gordon Brown was one of the least favored, alongside his rival Conservative leader David Cameron.

special “water yoga” is popular in India

You’ve probably heard of hot yoga and power yoga, but now there’s another form of the physical and mental activity that’s gaining in popularity in India — water yoga.

In the city of Agra, famed for the Taj Mahal, legions of locals perform their “asanas,” or postures, in a pool, which makes them more challenging than on land, and also boosts buoyancy and flexibility.

Harish Chaturvedi, a trained lawyer, teaches the unusual form of yoga free of charge. He says water yoga can be performed for much longer than other forms, as the body does not get tired as quickly.

“Everybody can learn swimming, but if they also learn yoga alongside it, they will never feel tired,” he said.

“The level of oxygen is very high in water, and you will not have any breathing problems.”

Chaturvedi believes water yoga really boosts energy and helps ward off disease. He focuses on children, and runs regular classes at the swimming pool of a local sports stadium.

The response to this unusual form of yoga has been positive.

“Pandit Harish Chaturvediji is a lawyer by profession but he is very good at performing yoga in water,” said Sudhir Narayan, a water yoga student. “He is teaching children free of cost and that is a very good thing.”

Yoga, which involves meditation as well as physical activities, has become a mainstream form of exercise around the world, with millions of followers.

Four common bad habits -can age you by 12 years

In this Tuesday, June 3, 2008 file photo, an employee takes a drag on a cigarette at Morgan’s Place bar and restaurant in Harrisburg, Pa. Four common bad habits combined — smoking, drinking too much, inactivity and poor diet — can age you by 12 years, sobering new research suggests

Four common bad habits combined — smoking, drinking too much, inactivity and poor diet — can age you by 12 years, sobering new research suggests.

The findings are from a study that tracked nearly 5,000 British adults for 20 years, and they highlight yet another reason to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Overall, 314 people studied had all four unhealthy behaviors. Among them, 91 died during the study, or 29 percent. Among the 387 healthiest people with none of the four habits, only 32 died, or about 8 percent.

The risky behaviors were: smoking tobacco; downing more than three alcoholic drinks per day for men and more than two daily for women; getting less than two hours of physical activity per week; and eating fruits and vegetables fewer than three times daily.

These habits combined substantially increased the risk of death and made people who engaged in them seem 12 years older than people in the healthiest group, said lead researcher Elisabeth Kvaavik of the University of Oslo.

The study appears in Monday’s Archives of Internal Medicine.

The healthiest group included never-smokers and those who had quit; teetotalers, women who had fewer than two drinks daily and men who had fewer than three; those who got at least two hours of physical activity weekly; and those who ate fruits and vegetables at least three times daily.

“You don’t need to be extreme” to be in the healthy category, Kvaavik said. “These behaviors add up, so together it’s quite good. It should be possible for most people to manage to do it.”

The US government generally recommends at least 4 cups of fruits or vegetables daily for adults, depending on age and activity level; and about 2 1/2 hours of exercise weekly.

Aliens may exist , danger ….

Aliens may exist but mankind should avoid contact with them as the consequences could be devastating, British scientist Stephen Hawking warned Sunday.

“If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans,” said the astrophysicist in a new television series, according to British media reports.

The programs depict an imagined universe featuring alien life forms in huge spaceships on the hunt for resources after draining their own planet dry.

“Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach,” warned Hawking.

The doomsday scenario is suggested in the series “Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking” on the Discovery Channel, which began airing in the United States on Sunday.

On the probability of alien life existing, he says: “To my mathematical brain, the numbers alone make thinking about aliens perfectly rational.

“The real challenge is to work out what aliens might actually be like.”

Glowing squid-like creatures, herds of herbivores that can hang onto a cliff face and bright yellow predators that kill their prey with stinging tails are among the creatures that stalk the scientist’s fantastical cosmos.

Mankind has already made a number of attempts to contact extraterrestrial civilizations.

In 2008, American space agency NASA beamed the Beatles song “Across the Universe” into deep space to send a message of peace to any alien that happens to be in the region of Polaris — also known as the North Star — in 2439.

But the history of humanity’s efforts to contact aliens stretches back some years.

The US probes Pioneer 10 and 11 were launched in 1972 and 1973 bearing plaques of a naked man and woman and symbols seeking to convey the positions of the Earth and the Sun.

Voyager 1 and 2, launched in 1977, each carry a gold-plated copper phonogram disk with recordings of sounds and images on Earth.

Opra:farewell is to continue

Oprah Winfrey delivered an oh-no moment on Friday, choking up as she told her audience that after a quarter-century on “the yellow brick road of blessings that led me to you,” she would shut down “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in September 2011.
It’s a measure of her outsize stature that the news buckled the media world: Ms. Winfrey isn’t leaving soon or going very far — by 2011 her new cable venture, OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network, should be up and running.
But there was a sense of mourning as soon as the news came on Thursday. And it takes so long to list everything that Oprah Winfrey has done (the talk show, the book club, the Oscar nomination, the magazine, the philanthropy, the Obama campaign, those road trips with Gayle) that it is sometimes difficult to keep track of what she hasn’t done.
This isn’t the first time Ms. Winfrey has closed a venture while it was still thriving. She became a star and a billionaire media tycoon by saying yes to opportunity, but part of her talent lies in her willingness to say no.
Ms. Winfrey told her audience on Friday that she felt it in her “bones” and in her “spirit” that she should pull the plug on her syndicated talk show. Or, as she put it, “This show has been my life, and I love it enough to know when it’s time to say goodbye.”
It’s also possible she knew from experience that running a cable network is not a part-time job. She championed and invested in Oxygen, a high-minded cable network for women that offered documentaries, inspirational talk and soothing yoga. That didn’t quite pan out.
Ms. Winfrey went on to create O, the Oprah Magazine with Hearst. In the meantime Oxygen, which was bought by NBC Universal in 2007, found its way on the low road with shows like “Tori & Dean” and “Dance Your Ass Off.”
Ms. Winfrey blends the mystical and the practical — she said she would leave at the end of her 25th season for the numerical vibe. (“It’s the perfect number, the exact right time,” she said on Friday’s show.) It is also the exact time her contract with CBS, which owns the syndication rights to her show, expires.
She found success by seamlessly mixing philanthropy with crass materialism (car giveaways), lurid exploitation with good deeds.
After all that, Ms. Winfrey closed with a teary valedictory farewell and also promised viewers that over the next months her show would “knock your socks off.”
It was the ultimate Oprah moment. She announced that she was leaving and urged her fans to stay.

The Russian bride is hot on the Internet (picture)

Originally posted on Wedinator a site dedicated to showcasing wedding photo disasters from around the world, the image has now been reposted on hundreds of blogs across the web.

The unnamed woman, believed to be Russian, is shown getting out of a limousine wearing a white dress, the top half of which consists of two small, strategically positioned semicircles over a dramatic embonpoint.

Predictably the internet’s fashion commentators have not been uniformly complimentary. One, the author of a blog post called “The Five Sluttiest Wedding Dresses”, describes it as “the equivalent of the groom wearing a codpiece”.

Others have wondered whether the choice of a white dress is perhaps misleading, while others make the inevitable puns: “They make a lovely pair” seems to be the most common.

Wedinator, which has been running since February, includes among its other catastrophic nuptials a video of a public proposal gone hideously wrong , and CCTV footage apparently showing a bride cheating with the groom’s best man during the reception.

Love investigation :James Bond like what kind of women

Gentlemen may prefer blondes but Britain’s most sophisticatedsecret service agenttends to go for brunettes, according to an extensive investigation into James Bond’s love life.
Academics who set out to discover what makes the ideal Bond girl found that apart from having long dark hair, she is likely to have an American accent – and to carry a weapon.

The unexpected findings were reached by a team who assessed the physical traits of all 195 female characters in the first 20 Bond movies, then contrasted the characteristics of the 98 who had “sexual contact” with Bond with those of the 97 who did not.

Unsurprisingly, Bond’s sexual partners also tend to be younger, slimmer and more attractive than the women he does not bed – and they are less likely to wear glasses.

Those who fit the ideal type include Lois Chiles as Dr Holly Goodhead in Moonraker (1979) and Lana Wood as Plenty O’Toole in Diamonds Are Forever (1971).

The researchers studied all women who had speaking roles or who appeared in two or more scenes in each film from Dr No in 1962, starring Sean Connery, to Die Another Day in 2002, starring Pierce Brosnan. The average age of the women was estimated at 26.
Only 27 per cent of the women were blondes, compared with 40 per cent with black hair, 19 per cent brown and nine per cent red. Those with dark hair were proportionately more likely to get intimate with Bond.
The 18 per cent of women who had long hair were more likely to end up in a sexual situation with 007 than the 22 per cent who had short hair.

More than 90 per cent of the women were judged to be of above-average attractiveness – and the prettier they were, the more likely they were end up in bed with Bond.
Only a quarter of the women in the films had an American accent, but those that did were more likely to end up in a sexual liaison with Bond than the 43 per cent who had a European accent of some kind.
“A majority of female characters engaged in some sexual activity, particularly those in major roles. And the great majority of sexual behaviours involved Bond himself,” says the research team, led by Kimberly Neuendorf, professor of communication at Cleveland State University, Ohio.

Three-quarters of the women in the films were white, eight per cent Asian and seven per cent black, with a handful of Arab and American Indian women. One in five female characters were dead by the end of the movie, including many who had had sexual contact with Bond.
Bond was more likely to have sexual contact with a woman if she used a weapon than if she did not.

Police: Woman attempts robbery, tries to eat note

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities in Ohio said a woman tried to rob a bank with a note and then attempted to eat it once she saw a uniformed officer in line behind her. FBI Special Agent Harry Trombitas said the woman wearing sunglasses handed the teller the note at a Columbus Chase bank branch Wednesday morning. Trombitas said in a statement that the off-duty officer wasn’t aware of what was going on, but when the woman noticed him, she grabbed the note and fled. Outside, the officer arrested the 40-year-old Columbus woman, Lois Harvey. Trombitas said she tried to swallow the note as she was nabbed, then coughed it up onto the sidewalk.
